8 New Ships for 3 Sister Cruise Lines: Norwegian, Regent and Oceania

Posted on 04/11/2024
Get ready for a decade of vacations with ‘new ship smell!’ And get set to soon book your place on one of three brand-new classes of ships that will change the world of cruising. Norwegian Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Oceania Cruises have together announced they’ve ordered the next generation of cruise ships. It’s the biggest ‘new build’ order in their parent company’s history. A total of 8 new ships for the 3 cruise lines will be built for delivery over the next decade.

That’s billions of dollars of next-generation design, features, activities, amenities and cruising imagination launching in time for upcoming family or couples’ vacations.

Plus, the cruise company’s private island destination in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, will get a $150-million upgrade in the form of a new multi-ship pier. It will be designed to welcome the new largest ships of Norwegian’s current and future ship classes.

The new ships are on top of the cruise lines’ current new-build orders, and will debut new classes of ships for all three of the sister cruise companies.

NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE
Norwegian is already in expansion mode, taking delivery of 4, Prima-class ships between 2025 and 2028. Now, we’ve learned NCL is ordering more 4 mega-ships that will advance cruising beyond the innovations aboard the Prima classes of ships. The additional new vessels will have a capacity of 5000 guests each, and debut between 2030 and 2026.

OCEANIA CRUISES
Building on the success of its Allura Class ships, with the last one on its way in 2025, Oceania Cruises is getting 2 more ships in 2027 and 2029. Each will welcome nearly 1500 guests.

REGENT SEVEN SEAS CRUISES
With the final instalment of its Explorer Class of ships in sight, Regent is now scheduled to take delivery of two, 850-guest ships, in 2026 and 2029.

Details regarding the new classes’ and ships’ names, amenities, staterooms, dining, recreational, efficiency, sustainability and other features – as well as when you’ll be able to experience these all-new ships, will be revealed in the coming months.

All the ships will be built by esteemed, Italian cruise ship builder Fincantieri, and given the unprecedented scale of the ordering of new classes of ships, the news is destined to change the cruising landscape over the next ten years.

The new pier at Great Stirrup Cay, the ground-breaking, first-ever cruise line private island, lines up with the growth in the company’s fleet. It will allow multiple ships to call at the island, ensuring more guests can have easy access to the private beach resort experiences.

The cruise lines promise that each of the new class of ships will be the most innovative as well as the most sustainable ships in each of their respective fleets.
The shipbuilder promises “emblematic cruise ships that will embody our shared legacy of excellence for generations to come.”

Although it’ll be a while before you can sail aboard one of these state-of-the-art new classes of cruise ships, all three cruise lines’ growing fleets continue to thrill cruise travelers with their unique approaches to cruising, from non-stop thrills aboard family-focused Norwegian Cruise Line, foodie heaven on any of Oceania’s ships, to all-inclusive ultra-luxury on Regent.
